Our team at Invitations by R Squared really loves the beachy and tropical destination wedding locations. Out of all of them, we adore the Caribbean. The Caribbean remains one of the most popular choices for destination weddings of all kinds for dozens of reasons. For starters, you can find an island to suit the personal style of every couple and their pocketbook, your guests will be guaranteed a fantastic experience, and the beaches are as perfect as they come.
U.S. Virgin Islands ~ This is perhaps one of the most unique of the Caribbean locations out of all of them. St. Thomas, Magens Bay, St. John, Cruz Bay, St. Croix, St. Thomas, Caneel Bay. Ruins, stone walls, crumbling towers…so much romance and atmosphere. Be mindful of the more popular locations, like those at St. Thomas and St. John, as these can often be overrun with day-trip visitors. Check out the beauty of the U.S. Virgin Islands here.
Aruba ~ This fabulous destination wedding location is an amazing combination of laid-back and glitzy glamour. The turquoise blue of the water is an awesome foil against the white sands of the beaches. Wind- and kitesurfing are popular activities at this island, fueled by the ever-present trade winds. If it is luxury you seek, Aruba’s waterside resorts are just the ticket. If a more casual environment is what you seek, there are plenty of choices available. Read more here and here.
The Bahamas ~ This location is literally loaded with options for the discerning, savvy bride. Wide open spaces are off-set by the more developed places like Freeport and Lucaya. The Bahamas offer resorts and more intimate choices that will fit any budget, from rustic to super deluxe. Of particular note are the pink sand beaches of Eleuthera’s Harbor Island. If it’s an adventure you seek, puddle hoppers, water taxis and ferrys are available for the more outside-the-box couples. You can learn more about marrying in the Bahamas here and here.
The Cayman Islands ~ Famous for its amazing scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities, those are hardly the only things that make the Caymans ultimately special. Trendy and Caribbean flair are the order of the day, any day, in the Caymans. If you’re looking at an elegant and luxurious event, Grand Cayman Island offers top-drawer destination wedding planners and a host of vendors that remains unparalleled elsewhere in the Caribbean. The smaller, less developed islands offer a lot as far as locations and romance as well, but will require an island hop to get off the beaten path. Check out these destinations here. Whatever location you ultimately choose in the Cayman Islands, you will enjoy amazing food, unmatched ambience and unequalled beauty.
The Dominican Republic ~ Destination wedding on a budget? This is the event location for you. It is still a great deal, financially, and boasts the most glorious beaches in the Caribbean. There are lots of activities of which your guests can choose to partake. Santo Domingo offers an amazing cathedral that is one of the most gorgeous on the planet. Punta Cana is home to a glorious, palm-studded, 20-mile-long beach lined with all-inclusive resorts of every price range. Most are less than a decade old and were built with destination weddings in mind, so you’ll find experienced wedding planners and beautifully imagined settings in abundance.
