We can’t think of anyone.
While many couples opt for destination weddings in far flung destinations, there are quite a few fabulous options available for those couples who don’t want to travel thousands of miles right here in the US. No passports required!
Of course, we talked amongst ourselves, and then hit up our favorite wedding planning professionals, so we could bring you the hottest cool islands at which to wed without leaving the country.
The Hawaiian Islands have dozens of incredibly beautiful locations, and we pulled out our favorites to share with you.
Hawaiian destination: Kauai
Kauai offers couples beautiful sandy bays and Hawaiian-inspired spa treatments.
Say “I do” with a view of the Pacific Ocean at the Sheraton Kauai Resort. Afterwards, take a romantic walk through the hotel’s 20 acres of tropical gardens. Sheraton Kauai recently completed a $16 million renovation, featuring an expanded multi-level pool just above the sandy Hawaiian beach.
The open-air Ocean Courtyard lounge now has tiki torches, three fire pits and six cozy sitting areas, perfect for cocktails under the stars. The resort has a new open-air restaurant and beach bar, Lava’s on Poipu Beach. The hotel is an affordable choice for honeymooners and families.
The new RumFire offers 180-degree ocean views and Hawaiian cuisine with global influences. The restaurant has a brick oven and a menu that includes a variety of flatbreads, pork chops, roasted breadfruit and sea asparagus. For dessert, try the Peach Pineapple Cobbler with a cinnamon popcorn streusel.
Located on a sandy Hawaiian beach on Kauai’s South shore, the resort offers its guests elegant guest rooms and suites, many with ocean views. The hotel is set on 20 acres of landscaped gardens. Guests enjoy snorkeling right off the beach, oceanfront dining and many vacation activities.
Hawaiian destination: Maui
The Sheraton Maui offers several scenic venues.
The Ali’i Lawn offers a romantic open-air setting with water views. Get married in the winter and watch the whales jump right off the beach.
The Sheraton Maui is a relaxing Hawaiian hotel located on the famous Kaanapali Beach in Maui.
The hotel overlooks the islands of Molokai and Lanai.
Kaanapali is a long sandy beach lined with hotels and restaurants. There are several snorkeling spots in the area which you can explore with the whole family. The resort has 508 rooms and suites, many with private terraces and ocean views. Families can book one of the Ohana Suites which offer flexible layouts.
The resort has many dining options serving a range of flavors. The Keka’a Terrace breakfast buffet is among the favorites. Be sure to ask for packages, especially in the off-season. Some of our couples have enjoyed significant discounts for their special events just for the asking!
Florida destination: Marco Island, Florida
This barrier island, just below Naples and a part of Florida’s Ten Thousand Islands chain, is renowned for its stellar white beaches.
This is probably why one of the most popular ceremony venues at Marco Island, Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa, is a thatch-roof Tiki hut on the beach.
It’s one of the Sunshine State’s largest private strands.
If you crave something even more secluded, the resort launched a program that lets adventurous couples marry within a national wildlife refuge on sparsely populated Caxambas Island.
After a 15-minute ride (where you might spot bald eagles, dolphins or even a manatee), the resort’s 55-foot pontoon will deposit you and up to 49 guests on gorgeous Cape Romano Beach for a simple ceremony with a Tiki-torch backdrop.
After the “I do’s,” snap photos beside an abandoned white dome home, dating from the ‘80s.
Back at the resort for the reception, enjoy sunset piña coladas and mini Cuban sandwiches, followed by Floridian/pan-Asian fusion fare like guava barbecue-glazed pork loin and Gulf Coast red snapper. For dessert? Sponge cake with key lime custard filing, of course.
Georgia destination: Sea Island
Southern romance gets a seaside twist on the barrier islands off the southern Georgia coast.
St. Simons gets loads of local visitors, so, for more privacy, look to Sea Island, an exclusive, gated community next door.
Venue options include the charming Cloister Chapel and a serene lawn shaded by 80-year-old oak trees dripping with Spanish moss.
But, for many couples, only the beach — a gorgeous five-mile stretch, fronting the genteel 175-room Cloister resort — will do.
Amid tall sea grass and swaying palms, tie the knot under a wooden frame swathed with blooming vines of wisteria and confederate jasmine. When it’s time to party, experience true southern hospitality in the beachfront courtyard. Here, servers pass mint juleps and vodka lemonade in mason jars, along with sweet-potato crab cakes and southern fried lobster pops. A bluegrass band gets your toes a-tapping from the background.
Pull up a Chiavari chair on the Ocean Room Terrace to savor a plated dinner (fried lobster tail, sweet tea-marinated pork tenderloin) in the salty sea air. Follow that up with scrumptious red-velvet cake.
Back in the courtyard, dance the night away under the stars, and cap off your coastal celebration around a huge copper fire pit (a former cane-sugar melting pot), where you can congratulate yourselves with cigars and whiskey. (Sea Island has its own blend of Woodford Reserve bourbon, which also makes a great groomsman gift.)
Florida destination: Key West
Casa Marina, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, is a historic wedding venue located in Key West, Florida.

At Pelindaba Lavender Farm, summer is the best time of year for outdoor weddings, when the lavender is in bloom.
Specifically, mid-July to mid-August is the best time of year for the fields to be at their “peak of purpleness”. This working farm is particularly suited for more casual, country-style weddings. No indoor facilities are available.
The site fee includes the use of the farm for 5 hours in pre-determined sites, use of parking and restroom facilities, and 1 (one) Pelindaba staff person for the duration of the event to help facilitate the event.
There are many ways to weave the diverse and wonderful sensory aspects of lavender into your wedding. There are many handcrafted products that are perfect for favors, wedding party gifts, décor, etc. While the wedding party is taking photos or during a cocktail hour you might have their Lavender Lemonade and Lavender Cookies (both available in large scale quantities) available for guests to enjoy.
Guests could also be given the opportunity to cut their own bouquets of fresh lavender in our Cutting Field during the reception. There are many options we can discuss to best suit the theme of your wedding.
Please note that this venue is not equipped to cater.
There are several wonderful caterers on San Juan Island (available upon request), but they do need to be completely self-sufficient. Think of the Farm like a national park where one packs in everything they need and then packs it out again. Additionally, San Juan Island boasts many talented musicians, florists and photographers.
