Congratulations! You’re engaged. Now the real fun begins; the planning. Most couples – at some point in the planning process – do consider the possibility of having a destination wedding in a remote, adventurous or exotic location. Here at Invitations by R Squared, we love the idea of exotic. In fact, the more exotic, the better. Who wouldn’t get excited about the idea of traveling somewhere tropical or otherwise exotic (ice caves, anyone?) and altogether unique for the ceremony of a lifetime?
There are a number of things to think about when planning a wedding away from a distance. The first is location. We’re seeing a lot more adventurous brides these days. Brides that want, with their whole hearts, to have the event of a lifetime with the love of their life. Part of that equation is an exotic and highly unique destination. Our team has, once again, checked in with destination wedding planners from all over to find the exotic and bring it to you. So, without further delay – Five fabulous locations suitable for the destination wedding of a lifetime!
Our first stop is the Coron Islands at Palawan, the Philippines. Most bride’s hearts go pity-pat over the thought of a fairy tale wedding. The Coron Islands, offering some truly breathtaking scenery as well as amazing destination wedding resorts, bring you truly glorious locations, top-drawer vendors and every conceivable special touch for your most memorable event. Set in the mangroves and engulfed in a lush tropical environment, the resorts of the Coron Islands offer an unparalleled “Wow” factor. You can choose a whimsical garden setting, a romantic sunset event or – for the more traditional – the intimacy of a smaller, quaint chapel. Go here for some idea of what to expect from a Coron Island destination wedding!
Next stop, Iguazu Falls in Argentina. Argentina brings with it a heavy European influence that spans almost half of the length of South America. There are so many opportunities and fabulous locations from which to choose, but our favorite has got to be Iguazu Falls. This location is one of the few that is just so spectacular, we’re literally at a loss for words. The falls are massive and form a natural border between Brazil and Argentina. There are plenty of activities for your wedding party, too, with hiking, rainforests and absolutely gorgeous scenery. The Iguazu Grand Resort, Spa & Casino offers everything any couple could want in an exotic destination wedding. And – BONUS! – There are wedding and honeymoon packages geared toward LGBTQ couples! Read more about this resort here to get a taste of Argentina’s best in destination weddings. While the actual wedding requirements are still in place that one member of the actual wedding couple be a resident, ceremonies are being conducted for those already holding US wedding licenses. So, go on! Have the ceremony of a lifetime at Iguazu Falls!
Moving on…to the Heart Sea Arch in Portugal. The Heart Sea Arch offers an amazingly gorgeous view steeped in romance. We’ll admit it – at Invitations by R Squared, we LOVE the beach wedding! And we’ve seen some of the best beaches around, but – you know what? – There is nothing in the world like the Heart Sea Arch at Marinha Beach in the south of Portugal. The rock arches are stunning and the water is absolutely perfect. Here you will also find amazing sea caves with secluded grottoes, perfect for exploring or snorkeling. If you’re planning a fall destination wedding, this is the place to be. Read more about it here.
Looking to put the “cool” in your cool and awesome destination wedding? Consider the glass igloos in Finland! If you are dreaming of a winter-white wedding in a small romantic chapel, you need look no further than the heart of Lapland. You can even enjoy the ceremony of your life in a glorious chapel completely made from snow! If you then a wedding at Kakslauttanen will make your dreams come true. You will travel to your ceremony destination in a sleigh drawn by reindeer, to a location decorated with ice sculptures, comfortable seating for your guests and warm reindeer rugs. And last, but certainly not least, we have the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. There are certainly a lot of choices when it comes to destination wedding locations in Ecuador. Nothing holds a candle, however, to a beautiful beach wedding in one of the islands of the Galapagos archipelago. The Galapagos is one of the most beautiful places in the world for destination weddings.
