Colors that are bright and vivid and those that convey a sense of earthiness. We bring you Pantone’s top 10 colors for spring 2017. These are reminiscent of the hues that surround us in nature.
One of the things that we saw this year was
a renewed sense of imagination in which color was appearing in context that was different than the traditional. Last year’s colors, Rose Quartz and Serenity, were soft and gentle. This year, we are seeing these bright pops of color. Not a moment too soon, says the team at Invitations by R Squared.
This year’s color palette evokes a spectrum of emotion and feeling. From the warmth of sunny days with Primrose Yellow to the invigorating feeling of breathing fresh mountain air with Kale. Designers applied color in playful, yet thoughtful and precise combinations to fully capture the promises, hope and transformation that we yearn for each Spring.
The top colors for Spring 2017 fashion are:
Niagara – Comfortable and dependable, Niagara leads the PANTONE Fashion Color Report as the most prevalent color for spring 2017. Niagara is a classic denim-like blue that speaks to our desire for ease and relaxation.
Primrose Yellow – By contrast, Primrose Yellow sparkles with heat and vitality. Inviting us into its instant warmth, this joyful yellow shade takes us to a destination marked by enthusiasm, good cheer and sunny days.
Lapis Blue – Conveying even more energy is Lapis Blue. Strong and confident, this intense blue shade is imbued with an inner radiance.
Flame – A red-based orange, Flame, is gregarious and fun loving. Flamboyant and vivacious, this wonderfully theatrical shade adds fiery heat to the spring 2017 palette.
Island Paradise – Island Paradise is a refreshing aqua that calls to mind a change of scenery. A cool blue green shade that speaks to our dream of the great escape, Island Paradise is emblematic of tropical settings and our desire to unwind. Expect to see a lot of this color at beach destination wedding events this year.
Pale Dogwood – Continuing the tranquil mood, Pale Dogwood is a quiet and peaceful pink shade that engenders an aura of innocence and purity. The unobtrusive Pale Dogwood is a subtle pink whose soft touch infuses a healthy glow.
Greenery – Bringing forth a refreshing take, Greenery is a tangy yellow-green that speaks to our need to explore, experiment and reinvent. Illustrative of flourishing foliage, the fertile attributes of Greenery signals one to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
Pink Yarrow – Tropical and festive, Pink Yarrow is a whimsical, and impossible to ignore hue that tempts and tantalizes. Bold, attention getting and tempestuous, the lively Pink Yarrow is a captivating and stimulating color that lifts spirits and gets the adrenaline going.
Kale – Evocative of the great outdoors and a healthy lifestyle, Kale is another foliage-based green that conjures up our desire to connect to nature, similar to the more vivacious Greenery. And, just as we see in nature, this lush and fertile natural green shade provides the perfect complementary background to the more vibrant tones in the palette.
Hazelnut – Rounding out the spring 2017 colors is Hazelnut, a key neutral for spring. This shade suggests a natural earthiness. Unpretentious and with an inherent warmth, Hazelnut is a transitional color that effortlessly connects the seasons.
At the end of 2016, Pantone announced “Greenery” as its 2017 Color of the Year!
What does this mean for all you brides-to-be? Um, pretty much everything! Incorporating greenery into your wedding color scheme is a perfect way to tie in some lush pieces — without busting your budget.
The “zesty yellow-green” shade can be used in a wide variety of wedding details, including bouquets, table runners, bridesmaid dresses, and even your wedding shoes.
So how exactly did Pantone come up with their self-dubbed “nature’s neutral” color this year? Honestly, it’s a complete 180 compared to the delicate pastel hues of last year, which were named Rose Quartz and Serenity.
“Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose,” Pantone’s executive director, Leatrice Eiseman, explained about their creative process. “This is the color of hopefulness, and of our connection to nature… Every spring we enter a new cycle and new shoots come from the ground. It is something life-affirming to look forward to.”
What better way to celebrate a spring
(or garden!) wedding than with a hue that symbolizes a reconnection with nature? Because of the so-called healing powers of the shade, we totally encourage spring and summer brides to take advantage of this fresh and hopeful color this year. We have just the inspiration you need to achieve it.
That’s not to say fall and winter brides can’t benefit from these tips, either. After all, every wedding could use a dose of natural elements to prevent a color scheme from becoming too stale.
So, without further kerfuffle, we present to you several stunning ways to use “Greenery” in your 2017 wedding bash.
If you’re a bride on a budget, bouquets of all greenery will always be much more affordable than fresh flowers. Plus, they look gorgeous when paired with a white wedding gown! It’s a win, win if you ask us.
Don’t want to sacrifice your flower-filled bouquet, but still love the look of greenery? We suggest creating a simple, floral table runner that’ll wow your guests come reception time.
Or what about hanging a garland of greenery to give your reception a lush, garden-like feel?
You can even use the good ol’ outdoors at your garden wedding to do the work for you. Try choosing a destination wedding venue with a location that’s covered in beautiful ivy and go from there. Chances are, you will need little more as far as actual ceremony décor.
Or if you want to keep your wedding ceremony indoors, we suggest draping a garland around a fireplace filled with candles to create an elegant and romantic effect.
Even winter brides can get on board the greenery train with a greenery-laced rustic or naked wedding cake that look like it was plucked straight out of a wooded fairytale.
All of this year’s colors are simply fabulous,
